FAQ

Q 1: I can't attend the event, may I still donate?

A: Of course! We're sad you can't be there, but please donate to help us reach our 10K goal!

You may also write a check (memo must say: 12 date event or Tori Freeman's event) to:
Breast Cancer Action
55 New Montgomery Street, #323
San Francisco, CA 94105

Q 2: A date auction? For charity? What?

A: The winner of each date will select a gift certificate (the person who bids the most money for a date gets to pick first, second highest bid gets to pick second, etc.) for a romantic dinner for two at a wonderful local restaurant. The current restaurant list is coming soon. Please click on the date page to learn more about the wonderful volunteers who offered to go on a dinner date for charity.

Q 3:  I've heard of it, but where is the Speakeasy?

A: The address is 1195 Evans Ave. @ Keith St. / San Francisco, CA 94124.  You can take the 19 or 44 bus lines or take the T-train to Evans and 3rd Street and walk about 10 minutes south to Evans and Keith. There is also plenty of parking. You might also want to ride a bike or take a cab.

Please note, some of the $3 beers are strong - so please drink responsibly.

Q 4: I'm up for auction, but what if nobody bids on me?

A: What are friends for?  Everybody should arrange for back up bidders so each date goes for at least $100.  Ex: 10 friends agree to donate $10 as your back up bid. Or two friends donate $50 each, etc.  The event is really fun, so invite your friends, family and co-workers to all come out and help drive your bids up!

Q 5: I'm married. Should I still attend?

A: Yes! Come enjoy the show, bid on things for the silent auction and bring your single friends. Remember, just walking through the door with your donation helps BCAction!

Q 6: I'm only free to come for part of the event. Should I still attend?

A: Yes, please join us for whatever amount of time works for your schedule.

Q 7: I want to donate an item to the silent auction, or maybe go on a date for charity. How do I decide?

A: When in doubt, do both. Seriously, contact Tori: 415-350-2927 (please leave a message or text me). I'm happy to answer any questions you may have and help you decide what is best for you.

Q 8: What if I win a date, but decide to take a friend to dinner instead?

A: If you win a dinner date by being the highest bidder, it is up to you if you want to have dinner with the volunteer or go with your friend instead.  The volunteers understand and agree to forgo a dinner date if the donor so wishes.

Q 9: Have you done this event before?

A: Yes. In 2008 we raised $6,624 for Breast Cancer Action

In 2009 we raised $10,361.

I took a year off in 2010 because my mom was going through breast cancer treatment and I was pregnant with my second child. I hope to raise 15K this year.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you, Tori: 415-350-2927
